Up Climbing #17
Bimonthly of climbing and mountaineering
SANDSTONE
Sandstone, in Anglo -Saxon language countries. A world apart, a particular climbing style, earthly game for the trad, but often strictly sporty. It is certainly a vertical world with a great tradition, among other things transversal to different geographical areas, from the countries Eastern European, with their short climbing on distant towers and protections, up in England. Not to mention the wonders of South Africa, to which we have deliberately dedicated a very large space in this number, through the texts and photographs of one of the maximum experts of the place, Tony Lourens.
However, our journey began in Italy, and basically from boulder guided by Alberto Milani and many others, between Pietra del Toro and Poggio Umbricchio, to mention two names on the fly; To then continue towards the legendary Fontainebleau, where the magic of the sandstone will be revealed to us by Jacky Godoffe in person. Many prestigious names present in this issue, from Igor Koller to Niky Ceria, with different styles and times but equally fascinating and interesting. To conclude, the theme of the protection on this particular rock, of which it will tell us Tom Krul.
The number 17 of Up Climbing You can define a number out of the patterns, which we hope has its own specific and welcome originality, technique and - because no - literary.
